Ochsner Zoo

The Ochsner Park Zoo is located at the corner of Park Street and Zoo Lane in the City of Baraboo. The zoo first opened in 1926 with 2 bear cubs and now has over 17 different animal species. The zoo is a USDA licensed facility that acquires animals that have been born in captivity from Wisconsin zoos or from licensed dealers. (Due to regulations, we do not accept animals from the public.) 

 

Animals currently at the zoo include...

 

  Canada Lynx, Bobcat, Prairie Dogs, Capuchin Monkeys, Wolves, Llamas, Black Bear, Nubian Goats, White-Tail Deer, Chukar Partridge, Great Horned Owls, Golden Pheasant, Potbellied Pigs and other animals. 

Feeding of the animals is prohibited other than from the zoo grain dispensers. Donations are appreciated.

Summer (Memorial Day-Labor Day)  8:30am-7:30pm
 
Fall/Spring (Labor Day - mid Oct. & Apr.-May)  8:30am-5:30pm
 
Winter (Oct. -March) 8:30am-3pm

The Friends of the Baraboo Zoo have been a partner in major zoo improvements for many years, funding the majority of the recently completed Lynx exhibit. The FOBZ are busy fundraising now for our next project – the River Otter exhibit – which will begin soon.

You can make donations directly to the FOBZ or the Parks, Recreation & Forestry Department at : 124 2nd Street, Room 17 Baraboo, WI 53913 to assist in this exciting project.
